Detailed Information

Waynflete SUMMER offers unique engaging summer adventures for children living in or visiting Southern Maine. Our aim is to encourage playful exploration in an environment that reflects the resources of the Waynflete community, the local urban and coastal environments and the expertise of a knowledgeable and attentive Camp staff. As a division of Waynflete School, the Waynflete SUMMER camp philosophy and approach are grounded in the School’s *core beliefs and mission statement (below).

We offer unique day programs for campers ages 3 to 15 years, through weekly and multi-week sessions in June and July. Camp programs are hosted in two locations: Waynflete School campus in Portland’s West End and Waynflete’s outdoor sports complex at Fore River Fields. Weekly offerings include pre-school and K-1 camps, sports, fine and performing arts, STEM, “Out&About” daytrips, Traveling Outdoor D&D and other unusual camper favorites. While we offered only a few camp programs for Summer 2020, we anticipate running closer to our usual capacity and range of offerings in 2021, with safety protocols in place and an emphasis on being outdoors. See you this summer!

*Waynflete School Mission Statement
Waynflete’s mission is to engage the imagination and intellect of our students, to guide them toward self-governance and self-knowledge, and to encourage their responsible and caring participation in the world. Our aim is to provide a program that combines security with challenge, playful exploration with rigorous expectation, and range of experience with depth of inquiry.

*Our Core Beliefs
We are devoted to the healthy development of the whole person: mind, body and spirit. Believing that young people are naturally curious about the world, we engage our students with a rich variety of academic and co-curricular experiences, allowing them to explore their own interests, talents and ideas. Learning flourishes when students are challenged to discover, to create, to take intellectual risks and to invest themselves passionately in areas both familiar and new. We believe that diversity is one of the conditions of excellence for our school. We value the individuality of our students, recognizing that each will take a different path through life… View more at www.waynflete.org.
